Summer’s coming to an end

The sun is starting to shine directly into my office mid-mornings, usually about the time I have morning meetings with colleagues. It’s only mid-August and still feels like summer, but it’s interesting to think about the fact that the sun is already making its way towards its low point in the sky.

Tomatoes are turning red, my sunflowers and zinnias are blooming in my garden, but there is a change in the air and you can tell summer is coming to an end. Of course, having kids back in school this week also makes it feel that way! Our little one just started Kindergarten at our neighborhood elementary school. It was a big milestone for us as parents to see her walk confidently onto the school bus and know she’s at a big-kid school now.

For the last few years I’ve had lulls in my writing over the summer months. Between camping trips, and being more active riding my bike and getting to the outdoor pool to swim, it’s hard to find the extra time to write. I’m hoping to create some new routines and find time to write daily, but we’ll see how that goes! One thing is for sure, all the summer adventures leave me with lots of inspiration to write some new stories and poetry.
